Laura Linney is an American actor, who became well-known for her performance of vulnerable but strong characters. Her father was a renowned writer, however she was raised as a single child with a single mother, a nurse. During the summers, while with her dad Linney was able to develop a passion for the theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting initially in Brown University then at Juilliard School. After just two short years after graduation, she launched her Broadway-based career. Following that, she made her debut on film and television. In the years since, she's been involved in numerous films, television plays and stage productions. In her professional career, she has won several awards, among them two Golden Globe Awards. Despite her numerous nominations, she has a passion for the theatre, and has appeared on both screen and stage.
